Carly Rae Jepsen, the Canadian singer-songwriter known for hits like "Call Me Maybe," has shared the story behind her professional name. During her audition for Canadian Idol in 2007, she initially introduced herself as "Carly Jepsen." However, when the producers requested contestants to use their full names, she wrote "Carly Rae Jepsen." The next day, they asked her to use "Carly Rae." Jepsen decided to keep "Carly Rae" as it felt more memorable, and it has been her professional name ever since. She finished in third place on the show, which helped launch her music career.
