Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson has expressed her preference for collaborating with artists she has an established creative relationship with, such as MNEK, Margo XS, and Helena Gao, over working with renowned producer Max Martin. In a recent interview on the 'Las Culturistas' podcast, Larsson emphasized her respect for Martin, acknowledging his status as a leading songwriter in the industry. However, she conveyed that she doesn't believe his working style aligns with hers, stating, 'I don't think so... I don't know if that way of working is for me.'
Larsson highlighted the importance of the creative synergy she shares with her current collaborators, noting that the magic in her music comes from these established partnerships. She expressed concern that working with Martin might lead her to feel less assertive in the creative process, stating, 'I think me and Max could make an amazing song or album, but I know he will affect me in a way which would make me be a little bit smaller.'
Despite her admiration for Martin's extensive achievements, including five Grammy Awards and induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017, Larsson remains committed to her current collaborative relationships, which she believes best support her artistic expression.
